Avenham and Miller Parks are definately some of the most beautiful places that Lancashire has to offer visitors, residents and tourists alike and is a must see if you travel to Preston or if you live in Preston. This website aims to offer some information about the Parks and provide you with a quality photograph portfolio so you can see two of Preston's finest parks in all their beauty.
The parks have a wide range of attractions and events on all year round, with stunning scenery, cycle routes, an orienteering course, and so much more. This site has been created because there is so little information to be found about Avenham and Miller Parks available on the Internet at present which is a great shame. Described, shall be two of the more inspiring attactions.
The fountain area of Avenham Park is certainly one of the masterpieces of splendour available for all to behold in the centre of the park. When running the fountain spurts out large jets of water to cool the area down around it; people relax and bathe in the oft-sunshine-drenched grass verges. If anyone suffers from stress, this is definately a place to unwind in and forget all your troubles for a day.
On your way into the Park, down the large hill at the entrance if you enter the Park via the usual route, you will go past an Ice Cream Van usually parked awaiting customers. A cone for 60p of very tasty Mr. Whippy ice cream sets you up for the walk ahead. Soon you come to the Japanese Garden which is an amazing array of wonderous plants, all kinds and descriptions of trees, cool shaded areas and much more.
Pictured is the bridge over the small pond in the Japanese Garden where one can sit on a nearby bench to marvel at the sights to be seen in and around this area.
